Ruth Aldridge, 87, of Dover, died Friday, July 25, 2008.


Funeral services for Ruth Aldridge, 87, of Dover, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier. Mrs. Aldridge died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

Mrs. Aldridge was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Disputanta, Va., daughter of the late Julius Watko and Minnie Borowa.

She was the seventh of eleven children.

Mrs. Aldridge retired from F.W. Woolworth’s in the Blue Hen Mall after more than 20 years as cashier in the cafeteria.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cake making, ceramics and many other crafts and often displayed her work in local craft shows.  She was a volunteer at the Modern Maturity Center for more than 20 years and especially enjoyed making and selling flower arrangements at the center.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Aldridge;  a daughter, Ruth Marie; a great-grandson, Aidan; six brothers, Alex, Julian, Edward, Adolf, Walter and Alfred; and a sister. Elsie Firment.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Ron Roseborough; two brothers, Albin and Norm; a sister, Helen Bellflower; two grandsons, Matthew Roseborough and his wife, Kylie, and Adam Roseborough; four great-grandchildren, Madeline, Abigail, Julia and Liam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Chester, Va.
