Tier 2 sex offender arrested for failure to register
    Dover police arrested a Tier 2 sex offender and homeless man May 27 after they discovered he had moved from his registered address.
    Police arrested Rashid M. Shabazz, 49, of Dover and charged him with failure to register change of address. He was committed in default of $1,000 secured bond.

16-year-old arrested in connection with home invasion
    Dover police arrested a 16-year-old Dover boy May 28 in connection with a burglary two days earlier.
    The boy allegedly forced the window open of a home at Harrison Driveon May 28 but once inside was confronted by the homeowner, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
    The teen fled but not before the homeowner recognized him, Hosfelt said.
    Police arrested for Kenneth Yarborough, 16, of Carvel Drive, and charged him with second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and theft.

Two men sought in Valero robbery
    Delaware State Police are searching for two men in connection with an early morning robbery May 28 at the Valero Gas Station and Convenience store located at 1612 S. DuPont Highway, Dover.
    A 36-year-old woman was walking to her car after closing the store at 12:18 a.m. when two men approached her with a handgun and demanded that she reopen the store, said Sgt. Joshua Bushweller, spokesman for the Delaware State Police.
    The men took several cartons of cigarettes and fled on foot toward Dover Electric Supply, Bushweller said.
    The men are described as black, between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet tall, with thin builds and dressed in black clothing. One covered his face with a red bandana and the other had a dark colored hoodie over his face, Bushweller said.

Dover police investigate burglaries
    The Dover police are investigating several burglaries in the area over the past week.
    • On the evening of May 22, someone entered the building formerly occupied by Outten Brothers and caused $10,000 damage to the interior, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
    • Between 10 p.m. May 25 and 2:30 a.m. May 26, Lt. Paul Bernat said someone entered an unlocked door on Simon Circle and took a Wii console, X-Box game and 50 CDs, totaling $800.
    • At 2 a.m. May 26, Bernat said someone broke a window at Enterprise Car Rental, removed two sets of car keys and fled with a black 2008 Nissan Xterra with Pennsylvania registration GWX1692 and a silver Hyundai Sonata with Pennsylvania registration GWX2111. The total value is $32,000.
    • At 1:18 a.m. May 27, two men broke the front glass door of Raceway Liquors and once inside removed liquor and an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register, said Bernat. The subjects are described as black men — one was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans and the other was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

19 marijuana plants found in apartment
    Dover police arrested a man May 23 after they discovered he was growing marijuana inside a Woodmill Apartment unit.
    Police received a tip about the apartment and when they searched it, found 19 marijuana plants and items used to manufacture and cultivate marijuana, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
     Police arrested Angelo Flora, 29, of Woodmill Apartments, and charged him with maintaining a dwelling, manufacturing marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

Cocaine in sock leads to man’s arrest
    Dover police arrested a 40-year-old man May 26 after they stopped him for loitering and found cocaine in his sock.
    The man was standing in the area of South Kirkwood Street when police discovered he was wanted on a Family Court capias and found 0.3 grams of powder cocaine in his sock, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
    Police arrested Maurice Butler, 40, of Poplar Street, and charged him with possession of cocaine, consumption of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and other charges. He was released on $2,550 secured bond.

19-year-old charged in stabbing
    Dover police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the May 27 stabbing of a man on East Water Street.
    Police responded to the scene after receiving a report that there had been a fight and they found a man bleeding from a knife wound to his head and neck, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
    Police arrested Bryant K. Brown, 19, of Capitol Green, and charged him with first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was committed to the Delaware Correctional Center in default of  $60,000 secured bond
