  • Woman dragged by car in purse snatching incident

  • Detectives with the Dover Police Department are investigating an afternoon purse-snatching in the parking lot of the Toys R Us.
    The incident took place at 12:55 p.m. Nov. 15, at the store, located at 1061 N. DuPont Highway, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
    The suspect grabbed the 77-year-old woman's handbag, got into his car and dragged her several feet while driving away.
    Surveillance video from the nearby Acme store shows the vehicle, a teal blue sedan, leaving the scene as it drove toward the rear of the neighboring Home Depot store.
    The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
    The suspect was described as a black man wearing blue-framed glasses. No additional description was available.
