Harrington Police have arrested a local man, identified as Curtis R. Sullivan, 42, for a third charge of driving under the influence.
The case began at 1:40 a.m. Nov. 2, at the McDonald’s restaurant on South DuPont Highway, said department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode. Officers responding to a report of an unconscious man in a vehicle in the parking lot arrived to find the car’s engine running with the door open.
Officers contacted Sullivan, who was in the driver’s seat and administered the standard field sobriety tests, then tried to place him in handcuffs, Brode said.
Sullivan resisted, but was handcuffed after a short struggle, he added.
Sullivan was charged with third offense DUI, resisting arrest, driving while suspended or revoked, and failure to have insurance and registration cards in his possession.
He later was jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of an unspecified secured bond.
