  • Jim Viscount, David Moss and John Magee staged a protest outside of the Dover Mall, along U.S. Route 13 on Aug. 7. The trio, who are members of local union No. 626 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, were protesting the fact that Dick’s Sporting Goods had hired EDC, a general contractor out of Midlothian Va., which in turn hired East Coast Interiors out of Richmond, Va. to do the carpentry work on the Dick’s Sporting Goods store being constructed at Dover Mall.
Viscount claimed that the companies pay their carpenters less than the area wages and benefits standards established by the Delaware Department of Labor.
A Representative from the Dover Mall said the shopping mall does not typically comment on protest situations in regards to the mall’s stores or operations. Representatives from Dick’s Sporting Goods could not be reached for comment.
